PARISH RECORDS

PARISH RECORDS

Each Parish within the Episcopal Church keeps records of Baptisms, Confirmations, receptions into the Episcopal Church, Marriages and Burials.
These records may be accessible in most instances, but the farther back into history you go, please understand that age and natural calamities may have taken their toll of complete parish records. (For instance, at Grace, we still have all our Parish Records, though some were damaged in fires and floods and some pages are difficult to read.)

It is not possible to re-issue copies of Baptismal certificates, however we can and we do provide a photograph from the relevant Parish Records Books.
  • If we can locate your record, we will send you a formal letter with a photo image of the relevant section of the Parish Record.
  • A Parish does not keep copies of certificates you may have been given upon the occasion of your Baptism, Confirmation, Reception or Marriage.
  • Birth certificates, Marriage certificates and Death certificates are never part of the records of a Parish.
  • Those are all restricted government issued documents and you must apply to the relevant state office to obtain them, if in fact you are permitted to do so.

LEGAL DISCLAIMER: It is important to note that no Parish Record constitutes a legal document and no such claim is made or promised with the provision of the record(s) you are seeking.
